Mashable as of 9/29

So once again Apple is making a big hit. This time it is in China where 100,ooo Iphone 4's were sold out in 4 days. These are great numbers for Apple but it doesn't come as a surprise because they were such a hit in the US and there were thousands of people that pre ordered the phone. This shows us once again that Apple is the king of mobile phones.

The iphone apps seem to be endless now a days. On mashable I was reading an article called, "10 Iphone apps for the Global Foodie". It was very interesting reading up on these various apps because they give you so much information about different types of foods. A lot them are specialty apps for different cuisines that give detailed information about what is in the different entrees and most have colored photos of each entree. The one I thought that was the best was the 365 World Recipes. It's cool because it gives you recipes from all over the world and if you follow the directions you too can look like a great cook.

Do you have any awkward family pictures? If so you should enter them into Virgin America most awkward family picture sweepstakes. The winner gets four round trip tickets to anywhere that Virgin America flies. This is a great way to advertise their company but what they really are trying to do is create a meme. They are doing this by having people upload pictures to Awkward Family Photos (AFP). They are picking them because they are a niche blog and it gives them a chance to affiliate their brand name with an online pop culture phenomena. This seems like a good idea and we'll see how it works.

On Mashable they are now posting jobs weekly. From the article I got that every week they post up jobs to give you a more direct way to find jobs from socially savvy companies. There are mostly jobs that work with social media or the web development area which will be very handy for me in the future. I think this is a great thing for them to do because it will help their readers immensely in looking for jobs. It is nice to be able to see a huge list of jobs from all over the US and it makes it easy to know who's looking to hire. In the future I will definitely check this job list when I am looking for a job.

3-D is coming to video games. Nintendo is coming out with a handheld gaming console that has 3D capabilities. It will first launch in Japan in February and it will come out in the US sometime in March. It will cost around $300. The unique quality about the 3D is that you do not need to wear the glasses to see it and taking a picture cannot capture it. The only way to appreciate it is to see it in real life. I feel that this will be a huge step for gaming and I feel as the future of gaming will move to 3D and this is just the first of many more 3D systems to come out.

My social media project is working with my Mom's Foam Number Math project. We started with around 50 likes when we started this class and we have posted a few things and got some activity going. The biggest improvement is that we went from 50 friends or likes to 172 as of today. I feel like this can be a great product because it is an elementary math program that gives kids interaction with the work instead of just being paper and pencil. I have done a lot of recruiting for it, made some posts and have been in conversation with my mom with starting a video series. I am kind of stuck of what else we can do on this besides get the videos going because I don't know what people would want to discuss about elementary math or what would stir up conversation. It needs a lot of work but it is a start and I hope we can make it better.
