Audi-The Next Big Thing

The marketers at Audi decided that they wanted to start a web mini series, called The Next Big Thing, to help promote the new Audi A-1 that rolls out around the same time this series airs. For this mini series they recruited the famous musician Justin Timberlake. The series is about Justin getting thrown into a crime underworld where out of now where gets thrown into a situation where people are chasing him while he and fellow star Dania Ramirez drive the Audi A-1. At times it seems like a car commercial because they are speeding through the city making the car look like it has excellent handling. This is not the first time car companies have used mini series to promote the new cars coming out. The first time it was done was in 2001 by BMW. This way of promotion seems to work pretty well. Numbers from past tries shows that sales do go up because of the numerous number of views they get. I think this is a great way to promote cars because it's something different then the normal car commercial that you see on a daily basis. Those commercials get boring and you get annoyed when they come on. This is different because you have to go out your way to watch them and if you willing to do that there is a good chance that it could sway you to like the car and possibly buy it. Here is a link to the trailer for the series, The Next Big Thing.
